Mothers Day had more than hundred year’s history which back to the 19 century. The roots of this holiday lead to the foundation of “Mothers Day Work Clubs” by Ann Jarvis which was called to support mothers in the community to improve terrible health conditions and, of course, “Mothers Friendship Day” – to join soldiers from hostile camps for a peaceful celebration. Another event that had pertained to the foundation of the Mothers Day was published in 1870, “Mother’s Day Proclamation” by Julia Ward Howe.

This document called upon to unite mothers in protest against Civil War and to organize the day for the celebration of both peace and motherhood. After Anna Jarvis death, her daughter continued mothers work in creation the date as an opportunity to honor mothers and their role in family and society. She achieved the aim of her and her mother’s life in 1914 when President Woodrow Wilson declared Mothers Day as a national holiday and established the second Sunday in May as its date.
